The Role of Cardiovascular Imaging in Familial Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: Current Trends and Future Directions
Abstract
Advanced cardiovascular imaging has transformed the diagnosis and risk assessment of Familial Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). This review evaluates the role of echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and nuclear imaging in detecting myocardial fibrosis, left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, and microvascular dysfunction. We discuss the significance of late gadolinium enhancement in predicting adverse events and emerging imaging modalities, such as artificial intelligence-based analysis of echocardiograms. Future advancements in multimodal imaging and their integration into personalized HCM management strategies are also highlighted.
