Abstract

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but also a critical enabler of sustainable development. This paper explores the intersection of gender equality and sustainability, examining how empowering women and marginalized genders can drive progress across multiple SDGs. The study analyzes the role of women in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and climate adaptation, supported by case studies from diverse regions. It also highlights the importance of intersectional approaches that address overlapping inequalities based on gender, race, class, and other factors. The research concludes with policy recommendations for integrating gender equality into sustainability initiatives, emphasizing its transformative potential for achieving SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and broader development goals.
