Disparities in Dental Health Education: A Comparative Study of Rural and Urban Populations in India
Abstract
This study investigates the disparities in dental health education between rural and urban populations in India. Despite advancements in oral health education, access to dental care remains unequal, particularly between rural and urban areas. This paper examines the differences in dental health knowledge, attitudes, practices, and access to preventive and treatment services between rural and urban communities. Drawing on quantitative and qualitative data from surveys, interviews, and observational studies, the research highlights the socio-economic, cultural, and infrastructural factors contributing to disparities in dental health education. The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to improve oral health literacy, promote preventive behaviors, and enhance access to dental services, particularly in underserved rural regions. Addressing these disparities is essential for achieving equitable oral health outcomes and reducing the burden of dental disease in India.
