AI in Rehabilitation Robotics: Enhancing Motor Recovery and Independence
Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing rehabilitation robotics by enhancing motor recovery and independence for individuals with physical disabilities. This paper reviews AI applications in developing intelligent robotic systems for physical therapy, prosthetics, and assistive devices. We highlight case studies where AI-powered robotics have improved patient outcomes, increased engagement, and accelerated recovery. The paper also addresses challenges such as system reliability, patient acceptance, and integration with traditional rehabilitation practices. Future research directions are proposed to further advance AI in rehabilitation robotics, aiming to enhance the quality of life and independence for individuals with physical disabilities.
