AI in Infectious Disease Diagnostics: Speeding Up Identification and Treatment
Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming infectious disease diagnostics by speeding up the identification and treatment of infections. This paper reviews AI applications in detecting pathogens, analyzing diagnostic tests, and predicting antibiotic resistance. We highlight case studies where AI has reduced diagnostic time, improved accuracy, and optimized treatment decisions. The paper also addresses challenges such as data integration, algorithm transparency, and clinical validation. Future research directions are proposed to enhance the role of AI in infectious disease diagnostics, aiming to improve patient outcomes and reduce the spread of infections.
