Blockchain Technology for Secure and Transparent Health Data Management: Opportunities and Challenges
Abstract
Blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution for addressing security and transparency issues in health data management. Its decentralized and immutable nature offers potential benefits in ensuring the integrity and privacy of sensitive medical information. This paper examines the opportunities and challenges of implementing blockchain in healthcare, focusing on its potential to revolutionize data management practices. We discuss key use cases such as electronic health records (EHRs), supply chain management, and clinical trials, highlighting the advantages of blockchain in enhancing data security, interoperability, and patient control. However, significant challenges remain, including scalability, regulatory compliance, and interoperability with existing systems. By addressing these challenges, blockchain technology has the potential to transform healthcare data management, paving the way for a more secure and patient-centric approach to healthcare delivery.
