AI in Drug Discovery: Accelerating Innovation
Abstract
The drug discovery process is notoriously time-consuming and costly. This paper investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) is accelerating drug discovery by identifying potential drug candidates, predicting their efficacy, and optimizing clinical trials. We review notable successes in using AI to discover new treatments for diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, and infectious diseases. The paper also discusses the integration of AI with high-throughput screening and genomics, emphasizing the potential to revolutionize pharmacology. Challenges, including data quality and regulatory considerations, are addressed, along with future directions for AI-driven drug discovery.
