A Review of Healthcare System Resilience: Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic
Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed vulnerabilities in global healthcare systems, highlighting the need for resilience in healthcare infrastructure, workforce, and supply chains. This paper reviews the impact of the pandemic on healthcare systems worldwide and examines strategies employed to enhance resilience, including digital health solutions, emergency preparedness policies, and workforce adaptability. The review also discusses the role of data-driven decision-making and AI in managing future health crises. Recommendations are provided for strengthening healthcare systems to better respond to future pandemics and global health emergencies.
